We have been contacted by the Chair of the Durham Branch of the NHS Retirement Fellowship (NHSRF) who has indictaed that a nunber of its members are concerned about the care of vulnerable elderly people in hospital. It is therefroe proactively raising concerns and has reported the following activity:
- the Director of the NHSRF is meeting with Sir Stephen Moss on the 5January ( Chair of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust) and contacted our Patron Ken Jarrold CBE, which started our involvement.
- the large Bexley Branch members have written to the Department of Health outlining their concerns
- we have made contact with yourself, and also Professional Concern
- I have contacted my M.P. for Durham/Derwentside Mrs Pat Glass, who took copies of the correspondence to and from the Bexley Branch to the “House” as she had never heard of the NHSRF, the Dig Revolution, or the Professional Concern
- I reported to the NHSRF National Council on the 26October in London about our concerns, and all of the trustees were 100% behind any initiative which could hopefully get to the people who could make a difference.
